Thanks for your reply; interesting insight from Wallerstein. Reading the same, I agree that the indigenous population have all their hopes on Morales: to take them out of poverty and finally make justice to the oppressed. Nevertheless, I kind of side with those that think he will not finally be able -or willing - to nationalize the key resources, but will take the softer side. Politicians usually forget all their promises -and the people that made their victory possible- very soon after being in power (don't we have enough examples locally?).Even though he is not a career politician, he is surrounded by many of them. Influence in unavoidable. I hope I am wrong. In the meantime, the Aymaras continue to hope.

Forgive me for taking so long to respond to your request for my views. The reason for the delay is that I was unsure what to say regarding what the future ultimately holds for Evo Morales' presidency and for Bolivia. In fact, I am still unsure to this day. However, I believe Immanuel Wallerstein has the best perspective on the issue.

Can you share your views on the matter? It might seem there will be another ousted president in Bolivia in a not so distant future. On the other hand,his friendship with Chavez, might give another twist to the story.Regards,
