The "Deep" State

This is the big story of our time. Whether you accept it or not is another question entirely.

...And for a current example of the "Deep" State pulling at strings to achieve its goal, you needn't go much further than THIS.

"The death of neoliberalism and the crisis in western politics", by Martin Jacques

Very interesting article, this is...
"Few recognise that we are at the end of an era. Old attitudes and assumptions still predominate..."

Indeed!
I wish I could be as sanguine as the author. I just don't know. Perhaps he's correct, in which case we can expect a return to Rooseveltian (New Deal) policies. Will that work? Conventional wisdom claims that it wasn't so much the New Deal as it was the Second World War that ultimately helped overcome the Great Depression. I doubt that war is an option nowadays, but maybe the ruling class wants to go down that road regardless. It would certainly explain the bellicose language being deployed against Russia and China.
